The Bachelor of Science degree program prepares students for management careers in the hospitality industry.

Graduates look forward to well-compensated positions in the industry as managers in restaurants, hotels, conference centers, country clubs, and other hospitality venues.

The Hospitality Management curriculum combines specialty classes in hospitality management and business management coursework.

The Hospitality Management program at Kent State University is one of only two programs in the state of Ohio to be accredited by the Accreditations Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). This underscores the high quality of the program.

The next Schwebel lecture will be held on October 27, 2008 at 5:00 PM in the KIVA, located in the Kent campus of Kent State University. All Hospitality Management majors, staff and students at Kent State University, residents of the local community, industry advisory board members, alumni, and friends of the Hospitality Management program are invited. INDUSTRY FACTS:

  • By 2012, lodging and foodservice management positions are expected to grow by 10 percent.
  • Nearly 2 million additional jobs are expected in restaurants and foodservice by 2016.
  • The lodging industry employs 1.8 million hotel property workers.
  • Hospitality managers' salaries range from $40,000 - $150,000 depending on experience, education, and the kind of hospitality property.

The program enjoys close working relationships with an active industry advisory board and other industry supporters. Hospitality industry leaders support the program through scholarships, guest lectures in the classroom, internships, and job placement. Students have the opportunity to be involved in organizations and clubs such as Kent State University's chapter of Club Managers Association of America and Professional Convention Management Association, and the Ice Carving Club to enhance classroom and lab educational experiences.
